Travis Ruane, MBA, AIF, CPFA

Travis Ruane is a financial advisor with Assoicated Investor Services in Fort Lauderdale, FL. He specializes in the retirement plan space and is committed to making sure employers and employees understand the financial risks that exist and are prepared for the day they decide to retire and move on to the next chapter.

He received a dual Masters Degree at Barry University achieving his MBA and a Masters in Sport Management. Upon graduating in 2011, he made financial services his career to help provide knowledge and empower others to learn more about finances and take control of their unique situation.

Travis holds his FINRA Series 6, 7, and 66 securities licenses and also possesses two designations in the retirement plan space: AIF (Accredited Investment Fiduciary) and the CPFA (Certified Plan Fiduciary Advisor).

 


Lisa Perez, SPHR, SHRM-CP

Lisa Perez is the President of human resources consulting company, HBL Resources, Inc. that specializes in Improving Business Performance through Engagement. She brings almost 30 years of HR experience and serves as a trusted advisor, trainer or consultant to small and large organizations including Virgin Hotels, Miccosukee Resort &Gaming, The City of Coral Gables, Best Buddies and Brinks International to name a few. She has authored her first book "The Complete Manager Makeover, Transforming the HUMAN In Human Resources."

Lisa is a member of the Society for Human Resources Management where she has held her Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) certification since 2002 and holds the SHRM-SCP designation since 2015. She holds a Degree in Business Management from Southern College and attended Oklahoma State University to pursue her Sign Language Certification. She is a Certified BridgeBuilder® Trainer who facilitates Generational Diversity in the Workplace and is a DISC Certified Human Behavior Specialist.

HBL Resources has been designated as an approved provider of recertification credit programs from both the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) and The Human Resource Certification Institute (HRCI).

Lisa is passionate about giving back to her community and is a volunteer member of S.C.O.R.E. and a member of The Miramar/Pembroke Pines Regional Chamber of Commerce (MPPRCC) since 2011. As a member of the MPPRCC, she volunteers on the Governance Committee and chaired the Ambassadors Committee from April 2013 - April 2016 as well as previously Co-Chaired the Education and Training Committee. She has volunteered for the Broward County's KIDS AND THE POWER OF WORK (KAPOW) Program since 2012 where she facilitates 4th and 5th grade lessons to help prepare students for their futures in the workplace and life. Lisa was also a member of the Women's Ministry Team at Oasis Church in Pembroke Pines Florida where she facilitated the Women to Women Mentoring Program from 2011 to 2015 and currently facilitates a weekly Titus 2 Women's Community Group also focused on women mentoring women.

Prior to forming her consulting company, Lisa served as the VP of Human Resources for Tecton Hospitality/Desires Hotels; a Miami based hotel Management Company operating up to 21 hotels located in six states & Puerto Rico. She was the Director of HR at the Bonaventure Resort & Spa in Weston, Fl., and the Director of HR for the 1,200-room Fontainebleau Hilton Resort in Miami Beach, Fl. During her tenure with Hilton, she held the Vice President position of The South Florida Hospitality HR Association in 2002 introducing the first Legal Update and Trade Show concept to the Association. Prior to this, as the Corporate Director of Human Resources, she developed the company HR infrastructure for Bask Hotel Development Group, a management company based in Atlanta, GA with seven hotels totaling 1,000 rooms in various states.

 


David Miklas

David Miklas is the managing attorney of the Law Office of David Miklas, P.A.  For 20+ years Mr. Miklas has practiced all types of labor and employment law exclusively representing Florida employers, including both private employers, as well as Florida municipalities and school districts.  He is an active member of the Academy of Florida Management Attorneys, the Florida Bar, the American Bar Association, and their Labor & Employment Law Sections.  Mr. Miklas is a member of several local Florida bar associations including their Employment Law Committee.  Mr. Miklas previously served on the Florida Bar Labor & Employment Law Section’s Wage and Hour Administration Liaison subcommittee.

Thomas Wright

Tom began his career in 1980 with John Hancock Financial Services. From 1984 to 2016 he was a financial advisor specializing in employee benefits. He then created the Turning 65 Workshop to provide much-needed Medicare & Social Security learning programs for the workplace, including advanced training for HR and Benefits teams.

He attended the University of New Hampshire and has earned the Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) designation from the American College of Financial Services in Bryn Mawr, PA. For many years he has been a professional Continuing Education provider, working with numerous insurance organizations, the American Bankers Association, and human resources professionals through SHRM & HRCI.

He’s been quoted on various employee benefit topics by media outlets including Kiplinger’s and Fortune magazines, The Boston Globe. He’s also been a featured guest on a number of televisionand radio programs, and more recently podcasts.

Tom has spoken to audiences from Los Angeles to Miami to Caribou, Maine including numerous presentations at HR conferences and local chapter meetings. He draws upon decades of first-hand experience to communicate dry, complex financial material in an engaging and simple way that ordinary people understand.
